Christmas in Belize is good times, warm weather and MANY days off rather than just one. Technically just Christmas Eve, Day and Boxing Day…but all schools closed last week and most businesses are on holiday slow down.
But rather than getting out your winter coat, hat, mittens, sweater, boots, ear muffs (today IS the first official day of Winter), this is the attire.
And here is the “tree” at the great new Beach Basket market at Grand Caribe Resort.
The town is absolutely HOPPING with visitors and the weather (save for the day of the BOAT PARADE!!??!?) has been glorious. The parade has been rescheduled for tonight – the details.
Here has been the week leading up to THE WEEK of Christmas. And the highest of high season in San Pedro. Tourists ARE in season. I’m not sure about the gibnut.
I “scooped” the beautiful lights in town.
And walked the entire town during the day to photograph all the barber shops I could find. Why? Better question: Why not?
Manger over Cholo’s Bar…
Back Street San Pedro – home to some delicious “cheap eats”.
And a few random GORGEOUS instagram shots from around Belize.
Nurse shark in black and white. LOVE IT.
Fin’s amazing shot yesterday on his way from Ambergris Caye to Caye Caulker.
One gorgeous instagram page if you love flowers – especially the hibiscus. Though not located in Belize, look at the flower!
And a beautiful permit caught by this lucky flyfisherman.
The LOVEFM parade marched through town and it was pretty great.
The big news WORLDWIDE was not totally ignored by me – a recent Star Wars fan because of my two nephews, Nate and Tommy. Dying to see the movie! And it IS playing at the one movie theater in Belize City at the Princess/Ramada Hotel.
The Island Academy School readied for the holiday pageant.
And there were some pretty amazing sunsets…viewing from the new Truck Stop is just perfect.
Their Sunday pig roast, by the way, was PACKED.
And just up the road, this beautiful new sign for White Sands Cove Resort. Love it.
I took a ride up to a new flyfishing camp in progress – Cayo Frances Farm & Fly.
And now…just a bunch of beautiful pictures from around the country. I’ll be reporting back tomorrow morning on the boat parade. Hope to see you there!
The view from one of the cabanas at Ak’Bol Retreat on Ambergris Caye.
Barranco, the southern most town in Belize…
A sign on Caye Caulker. Honesty = the best policy.
And the Rainbow Grill on Caye Caulker.
OH! And if you made it all the way down here and you haven’t had a chance to vote for me to go to Kerala India on a crazy blog trip, please vote! It takes a few seconds and…maybe…just maybe…I can blog about somewhere hotter than Belize.
I’m currently in 8th place out of about 330 people. Not bad 🙂 THANK YOU ALL! Voting ends December 31st!
