Don’t Forget the Children’s Regatta on Saturday, November 12th!

Starting at 9am on Saturday, kids from all over Belize will take to the sea for the 2011 Optimist National Sailing Regatta.  Ages 8 to 14, they will be sailing and qualifying all day right up to the trophy ceremony scheduled for 4.30pm.   Each race consists of two laps around an Olympic regulation triangular course.

The event will take place at Caribbean Villas about 10 minutes walk south of town.

A very helpful letter was issued by the Belize Port Authority advising power boats to steer 500 meters clear of the racing area and the buoys that are set up.

Major JMA Flowers of the BPA says “We certainly wish the club all the fair winds, good seas and safety for the 2011 Belize Optimist National Championship”.

We all do too!

Come support the kids of San Pedro and of Belize in this exciting event that is new to San Pedro. 19 (tiny!) boats in all will be cutting through the waves and all the children would love your support!

Oh!  How could I forget?  Food and drinks will be available all afternoon at Caribbean Villa’s Catamaran Bar.  You will be able to toast the winners with a Belikin.  (They will be drinking Fanta of course).
