San Pedro Scoop: My Best of 2013 – Part Two

Yesterday I meant to do a recap of my year (Part ONE) and going through pictures, I made it through 2 months only.  I guess I was busier than I thought in 2013.  Not a bad thing…not a bad thing at all…

SAP ALERT!  Belize is really the coolest country ever.  I spent about 5 years living on just Ambergris Caye…not a bad gig at all.  But over this past year…year and a half, I’ve had a chance to explore so much more of my new home – from the mountain Pine Ridge area to the deep south, Punta Gorda to Orange Walk – I am surprised on each and every trip.  By how diverse the people and the landscape are…by how friendly, welcoming and proud Belizeans are to me and just how much I love this country.

I can’t think of another place I want to live.

Stop rolling your eyes!  Let’s get to the pictures:

July!  I started going to Crossfit Belize here in San Pedro and met a very cool group of people.  We took a boat trip to Grand Belizean Estates on the lagoon side of the island.

I took a fun catamaran sail with Seaduced by Belize to Caye Caulker.  ALWAYS good times.  Especially watching first timers jump in with the nurse sharks.

And the Split at Caye Caulker.

Gotta do that again…soon.

There was the First National Rock Paper Scissor Tournament sponsored by Belikin Beer.  San Pedro’s competition took place at Fido’s Bar.

The Costa Maya ladies came to town for the yearly big San Pedro Costa Maya Festival.  I can NOT miss a photo op with pageant queens.  Heather and Kevin from Feliz Bar with Miss Belize.

At the end of the month, my best friend Jamie came to town so I had a full time blog clown/partner in crime.

We headed out to one of (if not) the most beautiful resorts in Belize.  Chaa Creek.  I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again.   What’s good enough for Prince Harry is good enough for me.

We kayaked to San Ignacio for the market…

We bought some $5bzd pants to go on the AMAZING Chaa Creek night hike.

We visited Xunantunich and Cahal Pech Maya Ruins.

We sailed (also with Seaduced) to Caye Caulker again.  The sharks…

Love the summer months for this sail…it’s usually nice and calm and the fishing is EXCELLENT.IMG_1942

On the way home, my friend Debbie met us with her jet ski.  This transfer took a few tries but was completed artfully.

We then headed up to the BEAUTIFUL X’Tan Ha Resort for a day in the sun.  It also happened to be my 40th birthday.

Jamie headed back home and I headed down to Placencia…

IMG_2271And I’m not even to the end of August…Placencia, Harvest Caye, the fire at Ramon’s Village.  This could take the rest of 2013!
