Las Terrazas Resort and O Restaurant: Perhaps the Most GORGEOUS Pool on the Island

Last week I took a trip up  to Las Terrazas Resort, just about 3.5 miles over the bridge on North Ambergris Caye, for lunch and some pool time.   Every single time I get off the water taxi or walk by the resort and step through the open lobby palapa and see this pool, I just love it.

I don’t know if the style is from the Mediterranean (perhaps a Greek Island…Mykonos) or maybe Moroccan…maybe Bali?  Those in the design know can surely clue me in…but I think it is beautiful.   Clean, white, modern with Belizean dark wood all around…I took a tour around the grounds, inside a variety of the rooms, ate at the restaurant and I was very impressed.

You are going to see about 10 different shots of the pool.  I’m not apologizing…I’m quite smitten.

My friends and I took the Coastal Express Water Taxi from town.  About a 15 minute easy ride and disembarked (good word to know for immigration forms) on Terrazas’ multi-level dock.

They have a lovely stretch of beach and are within walking distance of quite a few fun bars and restaurants, a beach with some privacy, easy access to options and to town.  (Three things that I would be looking for when visiting Ambergris Caye.  Check, check, check.)

And on top of the restaurant, they have a pretty amazing deck with lounging areas, a bar, lots of seating.  I’m not sure I can picture a better place for relaxing as the sun went down.  I SO want to spend the night here one time…sunset, cocktails (or just the virgin Horchata Colada that I LOVE from this restaurant) and maybe some ceviche?  Super romantic.

Or down by the pool?  They have my very very favorite lounging pods.  These things are the best.  And did you know that you can visit Las Terrazas, have lunch, perhaps a few drinks and lounge by the pool?

Think how beautiful this pool and rooftop area would be for a wedding!

Let me show you some pictures from inside the rooms.  See why I want to stay?  They are beautifully appointed.  I love a cool smooth tiled floor beneath my feet.

And this very cool little faucet for rinsing off those feet.

IMG_7293There are one to three bedroom suites and villas available…some on the top floor even have their own little plunge pool.  Take a look at their website for more details and BEAUTIFUL pictures.  My pics are more of a “montage”…my fancy word for “I kinda forgot which pictures links to what style room”.

The restaurant is just gorgeous…not over the top fancy but modern and well…gorgeous.

On a beautiful day when the windows are thrown open?  I mean…come on!

I’m telling you.  Get the Horchata Colada.  If you like Rice Pudding and rum?  You will LOVE this.  Not too heavy, icy and fresh.  It’s so yummy.  (These prices are in USD and don’t include the General Sales Tax.)

IMG_3044And my shrimp flat breads and Key Lime Pie done three ways.

IMG_8000IMG_8002Oh yes…and the chocolate brownie!  You don’t think I would try just one dessert?

Beautiful.  It’s all I can say.

For just lunch, a romantic sunset cocktail on the roof and dinner or for a week’s stay, you are not going to be disappointed by the beauty of O Restaurant or Las Terrazas Resort.
