Grand Caribe Resort: Two Nights in Total Comfort in this Gorgeous Location
Grand Caribe Resort, located in the gorgeous Tres Cocos area just north of San Pedro town, is relatively new. Opened in 2010 on a huge piece of land, it is the island largest resort and a departure from many of the original thatched roofed accomodations on Ambergris Caye. Here everything is spacious, clean and new – from the massive, massive swimming pool (not the only one on the property) to the beautifully appointed private unit I was staying in. I just returned from two nights at Grand Caribe and what I can tell you for sure? I loved my time there, the location is close to perfect, the sea front is absolutely gorgeous and I was very, very comfortable. Here are some of my pictures. The end of the dock – a beautiful swimming or lounging area. I took the water taxi up from town (about a 5 minute ride on the Coastal Xpress). Grand Caribe is also an easy golf cart ride up. And will be even more so now that the road is being paved. No more bumping along.
One MASSIVE pool in the center, two smaller, more shallow pools on the sides and then two others at opposite sides of the property.
Views from around and in the pool. I spent much of my afternoon in it.
I was staying in a one bedroom condo at the north end of the resort. It is right on the beach and a bit more private…which I like. My morning view from the unit I was staying in.
The gorgeous clean kitchen. Need 8 wines glasses, water glasses, champagne flutes on Ambergris Caye? This is where you find them…
And this coffee machine that I am currently in love with. I spent a few minutes pondering the consequences of borrowing it.
My bedroom. Lovely sheets and pillows.
The absolutely luxurious bathroom. So much room. Such great products. I love a giant seat in the shower. I just do.
Spacious. Beautiful central air (AHHHHHH)…cool. Clean. Local art. Large flat screen and DVD player. Dining table inside and out on the balcony. Totally comfortable.
Too comfortable… As for the food. Currently, there is a pool bar that does food and room service.
But in about a week – September 1st – the startling modern Rain Restaurant opens in this new roadside building.
And the view from the rooftop terrace is…absolutely amazing. Here you can see one of the additional pools.
360 view. Just what Grand Caribe needed to become a full service luxury resort. And they snagged a fantastic chef. I took 1000 pictures and will share them with you tomorrow. Grand Caribe is in a beautiful area…bars including the gorgeous Palapa Bar, restaurants, yoga…all within easy walking distance. Check out yesterday’s post for the view along the mile plus walk or bike ride to the bridge – on to San Pedro town. For more information on the resort and lots more pictures, check out the website for Grand Caribe. For more info on the unit that I was staying in and how to rent it on VRBO.com, check out this link. And the sunrise on the little dock right off my patio. Beautiful.
Oh and one more thing…it’s a beautiful place to get married.
Or look at this one by my friends at Conch Creative. Amazing.
