A Gorgeous Weekend Newsletter: Carnival Set Up, The Leeward Side of Ambergris Caye & BASKETBALL Champions
Photos from my weekend on (and around) Ambergris Caye. It was a HOT gorgeous June weekend. And here is what I was doing…
Lurking Around A Carnival: A carnival is in town at the Old Soccer Field/Saca Chispas at the back side of San Pedro. I could take pictures of this old school set-up forever…
Setting up is a family affair.
Visiting the Leeward Side of San Pedro: I had a boat to catch…heading up the leeward side of the island. It was about noon-ish Saturday and there was very little breeze.
We headed out from the lagoon on the back side of the island. Pick up at the gas station.
And out of town to the Leeward Side.. Passing GORGEOUS Cayo Espanto – a private island super exclusive resort.
And turning in the other direction, these half finished buildings…
The water is about knee deep and absolutely gorgeous.
And when we came back down to town…we spotted these kids fishing in the mangroves.
It was an equally stunning day on the reef side of the island.
San Pedro Tiger Sharks Become NEBL Champions (For the 2nd Time in A Row):
For the 2nd year in a row, the San Pedro Tiger Sharks – part of the National Elite Basketball League of Belize (Belize’s NBA) – competed against the Cayo Western Ballaz for the championship. 3 games.
Our Tiger Sharks won in Cayo on Friday. And then yesterday….VICTORY…in a very tight game.
Here are the photos I took during the celebrations.
Oh but first…on the way in. The map on the High School wall…you can see us, San Pedro. And the Western Ballaz are from San Ignacio, to the west. I’m not sure what that light blue three sided box represents. Am I missing something obvious?
Our guys before the game.
Coach Rico helped the Shark roll up his pants legs and gave him a pep talk for the game. It probably revolved around one theme: Try not to pass out in there.
Big money on the line.
And then…skip to the end. VICTORY. 61 to 55. San Pedro!
The fans went wild. Taking selfies with the shark.
Daniel, unaffiliated with the team, but a rabid fan held the 1st place trophy.
Some congratulations going to the Ballaz…they are a really talented group of players.
Cute family photo. 3 brothers on the Tiger Sharks and their sister.
Oh wait…back to the Shark.
Channel 5 news was there interviewing both team. If you missed this season, get on board for next. Attending these games is so crazy fun…even if you don’t know much about basketball…good good times. GO TIGA SHAAKS!
I headed out of the high school and took a left to the beach. THE HIGH SCHOOL IS LOCATED ON THIS BEACH.
An absolutely gorgeous evening.
I hope you also had a great weekend.
Oh…and one more quick thing. I bought a gorgeous bag made in Bali from RubiMoon Boutique over the weekend. A treat for myself.
They have quite a few cute new things in…
