Beautiful Boca Del Rio and Some Changes
For the slow season, construction all over the island is anything but slow. Old wooden houses leveled in a matter of days, new concrete multi-floored buildings going in…
Yesterday on a hot, HOT August day, I took a drive along the sea in Boca Del Rio. Stick to the sea! Every once in a while, a cool breeze swept by.
Some gentlemen raking up the seaweed taking a quick break in the heat. Hot but GORGEOUS.
This blog post is more of a study of this cloud.
With the breeze coming about once every 10 minutes, the water is like glass.
We did a U-Turn when we saw that Ivan of Rojo Beach Bar (closed for the season) is now down at Sandy Toes Bar. A super cute spot on the beach with THE VIEW.
I got a bit of Scoop. Sandy Toes Bar is moving RIGHT NEXT DOOR to an empty lot – empty except for a shipping container. Apparently a dispute has forced the LOVELY Ishmael…(here are some photos of him in March of 2014 finishing his bar)…
…to start building again! Oh man. I hope all of the bar’s fans support his new venture. He might even want some work with the re-build.
The view cannot be beat.
We went over the bridge to the “north side” of Ambergris Caye. JUST BEFORE you cross, there is quite a bit of construction going on…
A seawall is being put into place and this LARGE lot is being turned into a church/school/meeting place for the Sagebrush Church. Or that is what I hear….
Stay tuned.
Today I am off for warmer climates. Hop aboard the 10am San Pedro Belize Express Water Taxi (1.5 hours) – head to the bus station in Belize City – and hop aboard the 1.5 hour bus to Orange Walk ($5bzd). In NO WAY is it the shortest route. But it sure is the cheapest.
Sugar City. Land of tacos, Mennonites…and Lamanai.
High temperature on the island today…89. High temperature in Orange Walk – 97. Oh my!
