Sneak Preview Of Two New Businesses on The Leeward Side of Ambergris Caye

Yesterday was a HOT still hazy day – the type of day that heralds a weather change – and we headed back to “Secret Beach” – the very popular and totally UNsecret beach on the leeward side of the island.

Not the lagoon side that you can see from town or the road north but the “other side of Ambergris Caye”.  Labelled above…as well as Leo DiCaprio’s Blackadore Caye.  Which, if you ask me, is the best possible scenario for a development plan we could ask for in Belize.  But that’s only if you ask me.

One thing must be added…that’s only true if it starts AND finishes.  We do not need another half done project on that side of the island.

We first drove up to Secret Beach.  About a 25 minute ride from town.   We surprised this heron who got his feathers all in a ruffle.

The road is getting bumpier but the water?  Absolute perfection.

Mysterious rock piles have formed from the craggy limestone…

Just as you are entering Secret Beach proper, you come upon a new business-to-be.

We headed back to say hi to Ryan who is building the spot with his family and to check out the progress of “Paradise on the Caye”…

Right now they are finishing the two cabanas and the main house with a common room for guests and an upstairs deck and bar area.  There is no other place like it on the island.

Set up a telescope on the top deck and watch the super stars fly into Blackadore Caye.  The perfect spot.

And for a sense of where we are…here is the view from behind the B&B…if you look close, you can see Grand Caribe Resort across the island.

We headed out to the Secret Beach dock for a swim…and to leave my mark.

Next, we were headed northward.  A boat pick up and we were cruising up to Cayo Francis Farm & Fly.  (You can see the huge Cayo Francis lagoon on the map above.)

After about a 20 minute ride, you turn into a very shallow lagoon…crystal clear and surrounded by mangroves.

And then a main building…a larger house…solar power…two gorgeous cabanas all on this gorgeous green patch of land.

Kayaks and stand up paddle boards.

It’s not open yet.  But here’s a bit more of a preview.  The back of the business card…
