San Pedro, Belize’s 2016 Annual Lobster Festival is the Best Yet
Last night was the big block party for the 10th annual Ambergris Caye Lobsterfest and it was an absolute blow-off. There were more people, more space, more booths (which means more tasty food selections) and it was an absolutely gorgeous night.
I got there early. 1. Because my night time photos are…terrible. 2. I was helping to raise money for BelizeKids.Org.
I made one huge error last night and I’ll admit it up front – I was asked to judge a few months ago and I TOTALLY FORGOT. I flaked on the opportunity to taste 17 lobster dishes. Am I getting blase? Letting this blogging thing go to my head?
Let’s just get back to the topic at hand. LOBSTA! And a huge party.
Ian Anderson, Ed and Tamara Sniffin from the San Pedro Sun getting ready for judging…16 lobster dishes, 16 lobster drinks. The pressure!
One can’t help but be impressed with Ian’s lobster colored shirt, watch AND PHONE!
So many restaurants…
Pineapple’s at Ramon’s Village.
Pirate’s Treasure. Truck Stop serving ice cream – including lobster bisque flavored. Really. No seriously…FOR REAL. You can stop in today for the pig roast/cornhole tournament and perhpas Lobster bisque Ice Cream eating contest?
Casa Picasso…who later won best drink!
Estel’s Dine By the Sea.
And El Jefe food truck with Finn & Martini. Chef Marvin works at both. And dang…that menu looks good.
Finn with two of the judges – the crew from the FABULOUS Belize Food Tours.
The top three lobster dishes were awarded to El Fogon, Finn & Martini/El Jefe and Elvi’s Kitchen. Hurray!
What a gorgeous night.
My favorite band in the world playing the steel drums.
Jeff and I collecting for Mito Paz’s AMAZING Camp Basil Jones. Thank you to all the generous contributors and to Finn & Martini! Camp starts in just over a week. I will certainly be overnighting at least once 🙂
Such a great night…honestly, never better.
Go Laurie from Tacogirl.com – going the extra mile for her charity – the Belize Red Cross.
From start to finish. Awesome. Great work to the San Pedro Business Association…the paper lanterns? They were my favorite.
And let’s not forget that Caye Caulker Lobsterfest is still ahead! July 1st thru 3rd. Another SUPER fun event.
Oh…and to save the information and inspiration for next year….Pin it!
And for those who left early (like me…wrap up at 8pm)…here’s the view from the DJ booth late night. Wow.
