Bill Gates, World’s Second Richest Man, on Ambergris Caye

Earlier this week, Bill Gates – the 2nd richest man in the world – arrived on Ambergris Caye, Belize to perfect his tennis game.  Helicoptering in 3 times over 3 days from his offshore yacht, Gates met and practiced with a tennis pro at Belizean Shores Resort – 3 miles north of San Pedro town.

Bill Gates is very serious about tennis.  Just about a month ago, he teamed up with Roger Federer for a charity match.

Here Federer, winner of 20 Grand Slam titles, writes about “What Tennis And Philanthropy Have in Common” for Bill Gates very popular blog, Gates Notes.

Bill’s 21 year old daughter Jennifer posted a photo to her Instagram just 2 days ago from the Belize mainland.

This is not the first visit to Belize for the Gates family.  In 2012 the 330 foot ATTESSA IV sat offshore of San Pedro town for a few days.  The boat is SO big that she was anchored outside the reef.

Bill Gates, the Gates Foundation and Belize were in the news earlier this year.  In January 2018, Gates, Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim (one of the 10 richest men in the world) and the IDB (International Development Bank) announced a 5 year, $100+ million plan to eradicate malaria in Central America and the Dominican Republic.

I blame myself for not getting you this new earlier.  I should have known SOMETHING was up when we saw a large fancy tan helicopter parked just outside Blue Dolphin Villas just a few days ago.
