Gorgeous Weather, Clearing Beach and The Quarry: Holiday Weekend On Ambergris Caye

The past few days have been glorious.  The air a bit crisper…the periwinkle clouds extra puffy and the sargasso gone!  So…I took a bunch of pictures and this morning, visited an interesting spot on the Caye – The Quarry.

Here are some photos from Sunday morning yoga at Ak’Bol Eco Resort (about 2 miles north, Ambergris Caye).  Heavenly.

The jungle entrance.

Yesterday evening from my balcony.

And a walk just up my beach to Tuto.  My favorite favorite property on Ambergris Caye.  And soon a spot where you can stay.  (About 7.5 miles north, Ambergris Caye)

Will it be weird to vacation next door?

We’re are all over the place here – so stick with me!

The water is still clearing but it looks…perfect.

Next…I’m heading north to the Quarry.   This quarry was started a few years ago to build the road north – and has been going STRONG ever since.  It is private land and you’ll see BIG trucks filled with rock and sand running north and south.   They are coming from the Quarry – about 9 miles north.

Here is a map to show you where it is.  It also shows Cayo Frances Farm and Fly…

The first sight…a guard goose!  And duck.

Both a VERY strange sight here on the island.

Large pits in the limestone filled with blue water.

The goose had relocated on my way out.

We headed north a bit – to Bonito’s Store (the only one north of about 5 miles) to grab some water and then head home.

Orchids along a fence.

Have a Happy Holiday.  Now Pan-American Day rather than Columbus.  It’s a tough sell to celebrate the guy who brought disease and war that decimated 90% of Native Americans.

A very hard sell.
