Hurricane Nana Makes Landfall in Belize As A Weak Category One

Just an hour or so ago, Belize raised the Green Flag – “All Clear”.  Hurricane Nana is on her way out of Belize after making landfall in the middle of the night JUST south of Hopkins, Belize as a “weak” Category One.

Yesterday, the entire country was preparing – even the north of Belize…here in San Pedro.  Everyone here who has lived through even a “weak” Hurricane takes it very very seriously.

Rainbow as the sunset last night.

Here in San Pedro, things are fine.  Totally fine.  The water was choppy and rose up on the beach a few feet higher than normal.  We had a band or two of rain but not too much.  And a bit of wind…maybe 30mph gusts…but not too much.  We feel very lucky.

This morning at Xtan Ha.

The biggest excitement for many was the Hurricane Hunter Recon plane passing over San Pedro last night.

Will wait for news from the South.   I am hearing that some power is out on the Placencia Peninsula and there are trees down.

I’m glad she’s moving on…
