Camp and Dog Weekend at Cayo Frances Farm and Fly

Today, Sunday, April 18th, BEL (the Belize Electricity Company) has scheduled a power outage for the entire island of Ambergris Caye from 7am to 3pm.  That makes it the PERFECT weekend to be at the camp.  Cayo Frances Farm and Fly.  With a solar system that’ll keep the fans (and the internet) running!

Yesterday two of the dogs packed their bags and we went to hitch a ride across the inner lagoons – and Cayo Frances to the west side of Ambergris Caye.

Frannie – ears up when she first hears (and sees the boat)

They both want to stand at the front.  It takes 15-20 minutes to make the crossing.  While the water was high yesterday, we still need to take it very slow over rocky shallow areas.  (At certain times of the year – it can be just a few inches of water and we need to pole in certain areas)

The water goes from the darker still lagoon to beautiful crystal clear blue as we move farther west.

The final turn is thru this channel…

Here!

Elsie’s been over here all weekend with Jeff working 🙂

Grits, Chef Marv’s tiny chihuahua, was clearly having a rough day.

A beautiful HOT day…thankfully there’s a great breeze…

Still looking for a creepy doll head to place on this…

And Jeff surprised me with this PAINTING.  One that I first saw by artist Lee Vanderwalker from Caye Caulker a few months ago and LOVED.  Jeff saw my comments on Facebook.

This photo does not do it justice!  I LOVE IT.  (Here’s a better one on her photos!)

The pretty Madre de Cacao tree blooms once a year.

Deer tracks…

And the office…a busy month ahead!

Tomorrow I’ll report back on my pretty amazing trip to San Ignacio and the San Ignacio Resort Hotel…

I hope you are having a great weekend and Ambergris Caye – no electricity means BEACH DAY!
