Dreaming of Vacation in Belize? I’ve Got Some Ideas!

Are you dreaming of a vacation in Belize right now?  That’s crazy because I am TOO!

I know that many people who hear that I live on an island in the Caribbean…that I reside full time in Belize…think that all is perfect here.  That I am “living the dream” and would have no desire…no need to “go on vacation” but…you are wrong.  EVERYONE wants to get away from it all once in a while.

New sights…new foods (prepared by someone else) and the excuse to read, nap, lay in the sun and just let the world drift away…

So now, as I slather on my bug repellent to head outside to try to start the golf cart (our elderly cart sputters and spits for about 10 minutes before starting when there are overnight rains) – as I take my second cool off shower of the day and it’s only 9am… I am flipping through pictures of some of the trips I have been LUCKY enough to take this year.

This bug lotion is worth it’s weight in gold.  I LOVE the 50 bundle of individual packets.

And since it is the time when many spots have “off-season” discounts…and when airline fare tend to be a bit lower…I thought I’d share with you.

Some GREAT great great great places to get away in Belize. Even if you LIVE in Belize.

No particular order here.

PS.  HOW LUCKY HAVE A BEEN TO TRAVEL TO THESE PLACES!!!

Ray Caye Resort off of Placencia, Belize

Staying at a private island off the coast of Placencia right on the barrier reef was incredible.  If you think…what would I do all day on a small island?  Don’t.  I didn’t even scratch the surface.

Here’s my full post.

Matachica Resort on Ambergris Caye

Dream honeymoon material.  I think this is one of the most beautiful spots on my favorite island in the world.  (I’m biased)

But laying in bed (with amazing pillows and sheets) with this view?

Here’s my full post.

Happy Destiny Cabanas on North Caye Caulker

Now’s such a great time to explore North Caye Caulker…sandy paths…birds and greenery…development is really only starting?  Happy Destiny will make you…well….happy.  Simple, cool and clean with everything you need…this place would be SOOOO fun to rent out with friends and family.  Or maybe just friends 😉

Oh…and PS…it’s also for sale.  If you find out you REALLY love it!

A look at North Caye Caulker AND Happy Destiny.

The Lodge at Chaa Creek

Chaa Creek is the old jungle lodge in Belize – and it is wildly impressive.  Our luxurious cottage…Prince Harry actually stayed there….was hard to leave.  But outside?  Goodness.  This spot in Western Belize is just SO beautiful.

A bucket list resort: here’s a look at our two night stay.  OUR!  I talked Jeff into joining me for this one.

Casa Nova Cabanas at Secret Beach

Secret Beach is the most popular tourist destination on Ambergris Caye – for the crystal clear waters, the bars and restaurants.  But it can seem loud and during the busier season…crowded!

Have I got a spot for you!  Beautiful Casa Nova Cabanas on the north edge of all the action…

Here’s my stay and lots of pictures.

Sirenian Bay on the Placencia Peninsula

Miniature golf?  Pickleball?  And an extravagently MASSIVE one-bedroom suite?  I didn’t know what to expect at this new resort in Placencia and I was surprised in lots of way.  This place is fantastic and if you are bringing the kids?  Ideal.

Some of the larger homes on this property?  Holy moly.

My stay at Sirenian Bay.

It’zana Resort in Placencia

Ohhh this place was lovely.  It made me feel chic and elegant (two word that few would apply to me).  Everything here feels SOOO special – each nook decorated so beautifully.   You’ll just have to look at the photos.

My two night stay at Itzana Resort.

Sunset Caribe Condos and Resort on Ambergris Caye

Sunset Caribe is a new spot on Ambergris Caye but part of a larger established resort community that’s SOOOO conveniently located to take advantage of everything you want to do on the island.  Town…Secret Beach…or just relaxing at the beautiful modern pool.

Here’s my stay – a look inside and out

The San Ignacio Resort

This resort has such a great location – a beautiful, jungled property that is just a few hundred feet from downtown San Ignacio.

So I could spend the afternoon hiking on their Medicinal Plant Trail with a guide and visiting the Green Iguana Project (highly recommended to anyone who stays in or around San Ignacio town) AND head down to market day in San Ignacio.

A beautiful spot.  Here’s my stay – AND my trip to Xunantunich as well.

As I finish this up I realize that “lucky” doesn’t even begin to describe it!  And yet still…I dream of vacation.
