Hello From Placencia, Belize

Greetings from sunny Placencia, Belize –

I flew down from Ambergris Caye to Belize City…

Over San Pedro town

Over Caye Caulker

and then from Belize City to Placencia (with a quick stop at the International Airport) on Friday with Maya Island Air.

Here’s the Moon Guide’s excellent map of Belize.  I circled my three stops.

Traveling to meet up with my brother Ralph and his wife Laurie and his three kids age 8, 12, and 14.  They are on the second part of their Belize Vacation.  (First stop was Sweet Songs Lodge for some jungle experiences, some caving and ziplining, and a river pontoon trip which they loved.)

We are staying in a lovely lovely lovely villa at Chabil Mar Resort (where i last stayed in 2014)  The beach and the location and the grounds are gorgeous.

I’ve already secured cuttings of the gorgeous white and purple flowers vines hanging over most trellises.  The head gardener, Alberto, assures me that I can grow the Thunberia Grandaflora at home.

We have a golf cart from Captain Jak’s Rentals – which makes for the easiest access to Placencia Village and all of the restaurants and sights.  We just came back from the Monkey River Tour with Splash Dive and are headed out with them tomorrow to snorkel the Silk Cayes.

It’s so fun to be on vacation!  Lots of sun, sea, and Tutti Frutti gelato – the best ice cream in the country.

I’ll be reporting more back as soon as I’m home.  For some reason…with the three boys and all this activity (don’t kids take NAPS?!?!), I’m not getting much writing done.
