Farmers’ Market Season Kicks-Off at The Truck Stop

Yesterday, The Truck Stop – San Pedro’s very popular hang-out, food, entertainment sunset beer garden pizza, Asian food, ice cream joint, hosted its first Farmers/Craft Market of the 2022-2023 tourism season.

This week – Thanksgiving week in the US – has been BUSY on the island.  And the weather swapped erratically between gorgeous sun and serious rain…

I find this website best for near-term weather forecasts but at this time of year?  Predicting is hard!

Over 35 vendors from the island and around the country assembled at The Truck Stop to show their wares to a huge crowd!  This is a monthly event- and you can check Truck Stop’s facebook page for future markets.

I stopped in and took some pics…and it was a beautiful day.  I was there at about 11.10am.  Apparently, it started raining JUST as the market ended…at 2.07.

There is an old pick up truck in this garden – I promise.

And then into the beer garden area…and about half the vendors!

They have 6 different Belikin and Belikin’s craft brew – Two-5 – on tap.  All very Belizean flavors.  I love it.

Marisela does some ammmmazing baking.  Pretty Baked by Marisela Marin.  When you need baked rolls and pies for holidays – check with her!

My friends from Saul’s Cigar and Coffee Shop.  (A very cool shop to visit in San Pedro)

My one purchase?  I’m trying to show restraint!  Was nutritional yeast from this very knowledgeable shop in Belize City.  As more and more folks recognized food issues – allergies, intolerances, preferences – they are providing a big selection of health food items in Belize.

If you are here – you know many of these things can be very tricky to find.

Jeff and I have been eating healthier and I wanted to try this product…$19.95bzd.

And then I was out of money.  And I wanted to buy one of these super cute whale shark pencil cases from Caye To the Hart (check out all of Heather’s cool stuff)

VERY reasonably priced and super cool little gift (for me) for the holidays.

These beautiful homemade soaps from the mainland…

There were so many booths and SO MANY PEOPLE.  I was lucky to find a paring space!  As I left…I tried to take a one handed photo.  Unsuccessful…but you get the picture.  VERY POPULAR!

What a fun event.  Thanks to all the vendors and…see you at the Christmas tree lighting (I hope!)
