Thanksgiving 2022 in San Pedro, Belize: Where to Eat?

Thanksgiving isn’t a holiday that is traditionally celebrated in Belize – the pilgrims/Native Indians story is a uniquely American one.

But if you are traveling this year to Ambergris Caye for this last full week of November then:

1.  Good call!  Getting a bit of sun, great food, snorkeling, rejuvenation, relaxation, and vacation in before the holiday season and the real cold starts up in earnest?  Very smart thinking!

2.  You’ll find plenty of restaurants on the island offering delicious Thanksgiving menus with many of your favorite classics and some delicious Belizean twists.  That you’ll be enjoying in shorts and flip-flops.

And 3.  I’ll address this even though I despise this sport.  Have no fear – there are lots of fun sports bars around, so you can still watch American football. College, NFL, puppy bowls…whatever is your jam.  And maybe dip your toe into the World Cup!

Croc’s Sunset Bar has lots of TVs, yummy food, and an amazing view, The Truck Stop has a beer garden showing all the sports and serving 6 types of craft beer on tap…there are more plenty more.

Here are a bunch of menus for your potential holiday meal – some of these look INCREDIBLE.   I don’t see my perfect holiday menu – Green bean casserole, stuffing with gravy, mashed potatoes with gravy, sweet potato casserole, canned jellied cranberry, and 2-5 desserts hopefully all with Cool Whip (meat is really just a filler I don’t need) – but I will keep looking.

Please let me know if you have one you’d like me to share.

In Town:

Blue Water Grill Restaurant is going full-out seafood…with a traditional nod to dessert and the cocktails.  (I’m pretty sure the pilgrims were teetotalers but this seems much more fun)

Annie’s Pastries has one of my favorites – only for take-away and only for lunch.  You MUST order ahead – you can reach them by phone or Facebook.  It has a very small portion of soooo many things – the American classic (turkey, mashed potato, cranberry) AND the Belizean faves (ham and dumplings).  Just a taste of EVERYTHING.  It’s so fun to eat.  I would love all my meals served like this.

We are NOT celebrating at the camp (and cooking) this Thanksgiving so I’m excited to go out.  I think I’ve made my final decision but then…this is a tough one.

Would it be terrible to enjoy one Thanksgiving dinner at a restaurant and then pick up another to-go?  I mean…what is Thanksgiving…really…if you don’t have left overs!

Please let me know if you’ve seen any more menus.  I’d love to get a comprehensive list this year!
