2023’s San Pedro Lobsterfest is Almost Here!

San Pedro Lobsterfest is an annual event on Ambergris Caye – celebrating our island and celebrating the start of lobster season – in a very big way. The lobster season in Belize starts on July 1st (and closes on March 1st of the following year) so you will see lobster on almost every menu. Grilled lobster, lobster kabobs, lobster ceviche, lobster nuggets and more…

And it’s 28 days away!

Check out your guide to Ambergris Caye if it’s your first time here!

The San Pedro lobster festival is not the only lobsterfest happening in Belize (and, in fact, it is the newest – it started in 2007 I think…) but it is the longest! Stretching across a week…a week plus! and ending with a big block party-festival in town with live music, dancing, food booths and more.

If you can only make it to one event, make it the Block Party – you can check out last year’s here. The steel drum band is just…the best.

Caye Caulker and Placencia both hold amazing events over long weekends as the lobster season kicks off.

To find out the details on the Placencia Lobster Festival, check out their Facebook page. And same for the Caye Caulker Lobsterfest.

And you can check out my last trips to each… Lobsterfest in Placencia, Belize: One Giant Beach Party. And Caye Caulker Lobster Festival (shhhh…my favorite).

Both are so much fun.

So let’s get to Lobsterfest in San Pedro – and what to expect.

When is San Pedro Lobsterfest?

Officially, Lobster Festival in San Pedro starts Monday, July 3rd. Each day and night leading up to the BIG BLOCK PARTY is scheduled with an event. Sometimes something simple like a visit to a shop (usually with special snacks and sales) and sometimes something bigger like a Lobster Beach BBQ or All-You-Can-Eat Lobster extravaganza.

At each spot, you will get your Lobsterfest Passport stamped (you can only get it stamped at the event on the prescribed date). You can pick up a passport at your first event!

And then on the final day – at the block party – you convert your passport into tickets for a grand raffle prize. Each stamp = one chance to win…

The 2023 Calender For San Pedro Lobsterfest

Here’s the calendar:

So far, I’ve seen one event announcement so far with details for an event. I’ll try to post as they are released. Only 28 days left! And keep in mind that most restaurants will be serving lobster starting on July 1st or 2nd. So do not panic! You can eat plenty.

July 7th at CocoBlanca Restaurant at Coco Beach Resort…yum.

And that’s that!

Additional Information that Will Get You Ready!

Check out my “Rainy” Season post – what is rainy season, what does it exactly mean and what extra should I pack? I think I’ve been to every Lobsterfest in San Pedro – and I don’t think it’s every rained until MUCH later at night…maybe midnight.

Also, some fun things you can grab that will give you that little bit of extra flair at the festival. Certainly not necessary but just fun.

Here’s a very cute 3-pack of Crawfish hats that would be perfect. The Caribbean lobster is kinda like a giant crawfish.

I find the Lobster Slides to be a little much…but maybe they are your thing?

If you love jewelry…you can really set off on an Etsy deep dive on this one!

I love the razzle dazzle.
