A Beautiful Lunch Date at Victoria House Resort

Victoria House Resort & Spa, first opened on Ambergris Caye in the early 1980s, is the grand dame of the island and one of the first (and finest) luxury resorts in the country. Stately, elegant, immaculate…just gorgeous. It’s absolutely one of my favorite spots. (Staying there in 2022 only made me more impressed!)

A few days ago, while running an errand south of San Pedro town, Jeff and I had a lunch date…to eat some delicious food and just bathe in the beauty of Victoria House. Sometimes…when some summer island fever starts to creep in (there are three stages)…it’s great to mix things up and enjoy the island like when you first visited! A drink or lunch at a beautiful resort…or a snorkel trip. It floods me with love for my island home.

As you enter, you pass an inside restaurant, a beautiful pool front patio for dining…

We headed down the bar and outside dining area – the Admirals’ Club.

We sat down to order lunch and I stepped out to take a few photos.

Seating nooks and hammock gardens…there is so much room…so much privacy on the broad beach. To read a book…to get some sun…to watch the fishing and snorkeling boats go by.

Did we eat fresh ceviche or local fish? Nope. We ordered comfort food. A delicious burger with perfectly cooked sweet potato fries and tons of ketchup. And warm sticky pudding with gooey caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream.

And the civilized feel has carried over…I’m wearing a white linen button-down shirt this morning. And for my super casual island life…that’s like wearing a ball gown. 🙂
