Pretty Beach Day on Far North Ambergris Caye
Yesterday we drove up north – far up north – to check in on construction of Rocky Point Permit Camp. The ride is…ummm…jarring…invigorating…joint-crushing…but the views are beautiful. About 18+ miles north – Ambergris Caye is a surprisingly big island.
Here are a bunch of photos that I took that you might enjoy on this Monday morning. The skies were blue and clear…a blip in this epic Sahara dust cloud that is now moving over the Caribbean.

And then farther north…

Some areas sandy and smooth, lots of patches of seagrasses and coral rocks.

Another one of these crazy rubber bales – found on shores throughout Belize…Florida….South America…around the world. (I first spotted them in 2020 – they were later IDed from a German vessel that sunk off the coast of Brazil in the 1940s!)

Heading north towards Rocky Point it gets more…rocky. (The “rock” is almost all dead coral)

A baby doll scorched by…the sun?

When we returned from our walk, we found her like this. The construction guys, I think, were messing with us. Effectively! This thing is terrifying!

Look at the faces of the happy happy potlickers

A few hours in the sun is…exhausting. We started the long drive home at about 230. Stopping only for a cold drink at Tranquility Bay.

And a look back to the beach…

Also, if you missed my post on the weekend’s big Lobsterfest Block Party, make sure to check it out here.

The northern part of the island is still beautiful and largely unspoiled – for now. Thanks for the great pics, Rebecca!
