Tropical Storm Nadine To Make Landfall South of Belize City Later This Morning

All week, we knew there was a system coming…probably a whole bunch of rain hitting us this weekend.

But things were back and forth over the five to six days – would it just plow into Honduras…would it just die out? It’s the time of year when storms don’t necessarily roll off the Saharan desert…they boil up in our hot, hot Western Caribbean waters.

Last night, the rain storm turned into Tropical Storm Nadine not far off the coast of Belize. She making landfall later today. NEMO – our National Emergency Management Organization – is on it. Landfall between 9am and noon.

We had quite a bit of rain in the early morning hours – 1 to 2 inches and a good amount more is expected today. Additionally, winds up to 45mph.

Here are some of the weather stations graphics. These from Wunderground.com.

Nadine off the shore of Belize

And then the US Navy’s Hurricane mapping.

Shows Nadine’s “eye” coming on shore just south of Belize City.

We just took the opportunity—a break in the rain—to take our dog Frannie out. Here is our 8 a.m. walk down our usually calm path to the beach.

A good day to stay home with your devices charged (in case of power interruptions) – and figure out all the spots that your house leaks!

Stay safe everyone and pay attention to the local news sources. Here is the official update from NEMO this morning.

We have that every day in Seattle, maybe not quite as strong 🙂 It will be ok, just thank god you don’t live in Florida or poor North Carolina.

Totally fine – though the yard is now under about 6 inches of water! Very very glad it wasn’t worse!

Here at Ramons. Getting a little sporty and nautical. Just walked out their pier to take some pics. Employees scrambling to secure and fender the dive and fish boats.
They looked at me like I was crazy, but just went through HELENE in FL last week. This is a walk in the park.
    Stay safe y’all.

    Hang in there Scoop.
    Batten down the hatches.
    She will blow over.
Get yourself a nice bowl of soup and wait it out. Maybe some treats for your furry friends.

Done and done! All good – sun’s coming out to hopefully dry out the yard!

“calm path to the beach”? LMAO – that’s not Frannie, that’s Jeff – I would recognize him anywhere! In the meantime, what were Cashew & Mango doing to help calm things?

    • San Pedro Scoop on October 20th, 2024 at 7:56 am

They are batting at the rain drops pelting the front door and/or burying themselves in blankets because it is freezing at 75! Helpful, right? 🙂

    Yea Scoop
Got to keep your furry friends happy during a storm with plenty of treats. They are the crew. Otherwise, they will put on their bandanas and eye patches and go pirate on you. Arrrrrgh.
Heard deadbeat went to San Ignacio for the storm.
    He’ll be back.
