A (Rough) Ride North to a GORGEOUS Very Islandy Christmas Tree
It’s a busy week on Ambergris Caye. Lots of island activity are happening this week – and…Jeff’s mom is visiting from the States. Yesterday, we set out to show her and her partner, Ken, our newly completed spot, Rocky Point Permit Camp.
We were driving up in two golf carts and meeting them at Tranquility Bay Resort. They were taking a boat up to TBR – the roads are just too bad…too bumpy for them right now.
The photo below is at about Mile 11 north – you can see the palapa at the end of the dock at the old El Secreto Resort collapsing slowly into the water.
It was a beautiful morning and as Jeff and I waited for the boat (and his mom) to arrive, I went inside the over-the-water bar and restaurant at Tranquility Bay and saw the most beautiful island-y Christmas tree.
In all her coconut front and conch shell glory…
Here are some of the other pictures I took up north yesterday.
Looking back toward the beach…
Another angle…
And then another few miles north…settled in at the camp…Ken found this cool washed up coral head. Unlike any we’ve ever seen. He described it like “monkey bread” – almost like a large very heavy cauliflower. Here it is. Let me know if you can ID the coral type and…have a great day.
It’s under carriage 🙂

We have a small condo on Mosquito Coast and really hope the address the road south also. If you have heard anything about that end please let us know. Thank you!
