Quick Bites: The New Tacos Milagros in San Pedro
Yesterday we tried a new spot for lunch – Tacos Milagros (translation: Miracle Tacos). Located just south of town, across the small street from the old Pedro’s Inn. Which is now some new GIANT casino and mega-golf cart rental spot called Caribi Bleu? I’m not exactly sure what it is. But that’s neither here nor there. I’m here to talk about food.
Our friend Oscar of C’s Furniture mentioned we should try it. It’s his brother’s new deli restaurant serving tacos and more for lunch and dinner. I like tacos. I very much like Oscar. Let’s try!

We arrived a few minutes before 12 and claimed the seat outside…they set up a few more tables out there. It’s a simple spot!

I love a menu with things that I’ve NEVER heard of…like:
- Torta Sufrida: or “Suffering Sandwich” – apparently it is suffering due to being over stuffed
- Sincronizada: Apparently a quesadilla is made with one tortilla folded and grilled/flat-topped. A sincronizada is TWO tortillas stuffed.
- Sopes: we call these salbutes in Belize – apparently salbute is the word in Yucatan cuisine. (If you don’t know what a salbute is, you are going to have to read: “Rice and Beans or Beans with Rice? Salbutes or Garnaches? Decisions in Belize“)
Can you believe that I am on Day 659 of DuoLingo Spanish and we haven’t talked about food yet?
Jeff and I ordered two things…Tacos Al Pastor (because I LOVE pork with pineapple) and one of the daily specials…Beef Chilaquiles for $12bzd. Because I’ve only ever seen chilaquiles on a breakfast menu.

I asked Google what “a la cazuela” is and AI told me this: “A la cazuela” in Mexico refers to a dish cooked in a “cazuela,” which is a traditional, shallow clay pot used for cooking, essentially meaning the food is prepared and served in this earthenware pot, often with a stew-like consistency, and the term can also refer to the style of cooking itself where various ingredients are simmered together in the cazuela. “
Since Google stole it from someone’s website, I guess I can too? 🙁 It sounds delicious though.
I popped in to my friend Sam’s hardware/kitchenware/bicycle/grills/tools shop next door. It’s got a ton of good stuff if you are looking for generators, fans, air fryers…bicycles. All sort of things…it’s called Power Tools and Home Supplies and this is not a good picture. You’ll have to stop in.

And our dishes. The chilaquiles is huge. And simple. And delicious. I love the savory red sauce soaking into the chips so they are a bit soft but retain a bit of crunch. I might ask for a fried egg also next time…to make it just…extra delicious.

The tacos were good too. I like it when the pineapple is grilled a bit but the meat was tasty and the homemade tortillas extra great.

Delicious. With drinks and food – $30bzd. A very reasonable and very filling lunch. The family running this spot is lovely too. I will definitely return. I want to try the sopes (though the word is a bit too close to the Spanish word for “soup” in my estimation) and the stew and the chilaquiles again. (Already thinking about lunch today…)

After lunch, I found Mexican loteria card on the ground and assumed it meant good luck.

I assumed INCORRECTLY. Because look what our – now 10 month old – kittens did.
They did what teenaged cats do – they wreck things.

THE WORST. I took it as a sign that I should pause/cancel ALL THE STREAMING apps that I currently have going – AppleTV, Netflix, HBO, HULU – and reassess my life choices.
That and eat more Mexican food.
I hope you are all having a lovely Sunday. 🙂 Let’s see how long I last without a TV.

Oh, that looks like such a lovely taqueria. Very authentic and makes me miss Mexico so much.
Your monitor, though, how sad. I’m so sorry! I know how pricey stuff like that is there. UGHHHHHH….
Ouch! That lunch cost you way more than $30! But look at all you will save on streaming services! (This is spoken as one who does not have a TV in Belize. I only miss it when there is a play-off game!)
great place to eat
great food at a very reasonable price
Please spay and neuter your kitties, it will calm them down and prevent more kittens.
They are both fixed – months ago…they are just crazy teens 🙂
Time to come back!
