2025 Lobsterfest Block Party: Big and Very Very Tasty
Last night, Saca Chispas field, lined with over 25 colorful restaurant booths, was packed for the annual San Pedro LobsterFest Block Party. Music from DJ Debbie and the steel drum band, Panerrifix, locals and visitors eating and dancing, colorful decorations and lots and lots of drinks and lots of lobster.
Here’s why the Back Football field is called Saca Chispas on the island.
The party REALLY gets started as the sun goes down…but in my usual form, I like to arrive early and…leave early! But this year, my plan was foiled by a brief but heavy rain shower just as we were packing up to leave. SHIT! All those decorations and signs…
But when we arrived – about half an hour after the stated 5 o’clock hour – the crowd was starting to grow, the music was sooo fun and you couldn’t hardly tell that it had rained at all. Here are all the pictures I took.
Pro tip gathered: Make a round to see all the menus but…more important. Ask people what they liked, what they tried, what they didn’t like. There is NO WAY you can eat more than a few lobster dishes in a night. It’s so rich and pretty much reliably soaked in butter. ASK!
It’s how we found the most delicious dish: Lobster bisque from Opus Grille (up by Captain Morgan’s) – it was perfect in a bunch of ways…

I met Ivan from Crocs ages ago! Who remembers when he was at the original Palapa Bar? If you don’t – and you are curious – here are some pictures.

We tried Lobster Fritters and then Lobster slides at some booths and they were…not great. Pre-prepared and room temp?
I decided to switch over to my most beloved food category: dessert.
And Krista from NautiCrab makes some freaking AMAZING cake – this German chocolate cake with pecans and coconut and dark dark chocolate was soooo good. And soooo filling.

But then I got a tip…that the lobster bisque from Opus Grille (a restaurant that I honestly don’t hear much about) was amazing.
We stopped by to check out the menu. And it was perfection. Short. Great price points. Just small servings – tastes. But that’s what I want at a festival. So I can try 4 or 5 things without BURSTING.

No, I did not ask what the Sand in the Butt drink was. I’m sorry! I’m just noticing that now! If anyone had one…please fill me in…
The bisque was SOOO perfect. Creamy, plenty of lobster chunks, rich with a hint of tomato.
Give me a cup of this and some fresh bread (preferably sour dough) and…heaven. Will be visiting the restaurant soon!
Me and my cake watching the amazing steel drum kids. I. ate. too. much.

Good bye 2025 Lobsterfest block party. For photos that go past sunset, check out the San Pedro Town Council and the San Pedro Lobsterfest pages…they have some amazing Instagram posts.
And let me know what you tasted and loved.

Huge thank you to everyone who organized and participated in this MEGA event. Phew…
Please spend today lounging and sleeping or maybe a spa day? You deserve it!

Great pictures—thanks
Will be there next year
The sunset is throwing me off to where this event took place? Is it the lagoon side?? I can’t wait to check it out!!!!
Yes – it’s on the back side of town – so looking over the San Pedro lagoon. But the ocean side is just a few blocks away.
Looks like so much fun, can’t wait to attend next year.
Thanks for keeping us in the know up close and personal.
You are appreciated! 🙏🏾
