The Ambergris Caye North Gas Station Is Finally Open (Yes, That One by Secret Beach)

There have been rumors for years and construction has been slow…but here we are. The gas station just north of the Secret Beach junction – about four miles north of town – is officially open. WOOHHOOOO!

PLENTY of room!

And for anyone who lives north, works north, or spends a lot of time heading out to Secret Beach, this is a kinda big deal.

It’s been a long time coming. For years, fueling up meant planning ahead, turning around (I always forgot ALWAYS and had to turn around), or crossing your fingers that you had just enough gas to make it back to town.

Price same as in town – gas about $11.27bzd a gallon yesterday

** The price of gas made me google Highest Price Gas Country in the world and we…are kinda in the middle. For low low low low prices, like 10 US cents a gallon (as of this article last summer) – you are going to want to relocate to Iran or Libya. Hong Kong…on the other end of the spectrum…is about $13USD a gallon.

Back to the new gas station. Here are a few things that I found out:

  • It’s not just pumps – there’s a shop and good bathrooms inside
  • A nice convenience store – clean, well-stocked, and easy to pop into (with the same prices as their sister station in town) – no “remote” mark-up on gas or stuff in the shop
  • Five-gallon water bottles are available – which is the #1 thing I run out of…
The large store
I want cold drinks and junk food – check and check!

On the north side of Ambergris Caye, this is not an extra; it’s infrastructure! And it was needed for sure. Because if you live out my way…you know how big this is.

But this is great…toilet paper…hooray!
Welcome to the neighborhood!

Absolutely fantastic!! Stopped there yesterday late afternoon on our way to town and was I surprised to find it open.
Certainly a game changer for us up north.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!
Now only if there was a way to keep the roads graded.

    Awsomesauce!
    Great place for a station.
We went by it at the beginning of November, it just looked like a gas station and now it’s there. I’m sure we’ll be stopping on the tour to Secret Beach and the North.
    Good job!

The SO didn’t believe me, I insisted it looked ready to open weeks ago. Yay! I see lots of empty floor space and shelf space to stock more stuff in the near future -some fresh fruits, veg, and a Captain Spauldings Chicken (haha. !)

Great ICE machine. State of the art stainless steel and purification system. The family should be proud of progress to the island.

Looks like there’s plenty of space to add Fast Charging Stations for Teslas and EV Golf Carts – and maybe a small Walmart and Casino with a Buffet to kill time while you wait 🎰
