2026 San Pedro LobsterFest: Fantastic Food Though On The Fence on Lobster Popcorn
Last night was the big San Pedro Lobsterfest Block Party and we attended just as the sun was setting…this time with a plan. To not just dive in…no buying the first thing that looked good. We were going to do a full lap…not get distracted . Check out every booth…ask people what their favorite dish was…what they would recommend and only THEN dive in.

There were more restaurants…more booths…more music…more people…than ever. It was HUGE!
Here are my pictures.

We heard buzz around Matachica Resort’s booth – the lobster roll on a croissant? Sounds amazing. And they had their award winning Agnololli. (That’s fancy for ravioli 🙂 )
We also knew that we wanted some Lobster bisque from Opus Grill. It was soooo good last year and we didn’t get enough…

There were a few puddles left over from the morning HEAVY rain…but it really wasn’t too bad.
We also heard that the lobster lasagne from Brooklyn Bagels was great. Ok…time to circle back. We started with the Bisque and a lobster wonton cone from Opus Grill.

There was a lot of buzz around Opus’ popcorn…everyone coming from the booth was RAVING about it. “I know what you think” they would say…”but it’s delicious”.
I definitely had to think about one…

Time to hit Matachica.

We ordered the agnolotti and the key lime pie ($27bzd for both). The key lime pie at Matachica is a known quantity. It’s INSANELY delicious… (I’ve GUSHED about the bakery at Matachica numerous times…some of the best breads and pastries you’ll find…not just in Belize but the world)
Both were very very good. We walked around but…the popcorn was stuck in my head.
Let’s try it.

It was a great caramel corn with coconut and lobster and coconut and…it was interesting. SUPER INVENTIVE. Everyone was talking about it.
And…it was all good ingredients to me – delicious. But it wasn’t my favorite. But I stood alone on that one.
We DID get two containers of bisque to go.
And we took off into the night 🙂
Thank you so much to everyone who participated in this huge event – what a TON of work to make this amazing.
Now…I have a week to digest all that lobster and lobster madness and then I’m off to Caye Caulker next Sunday for more.

I wish we tried some of your favorites at Lobsterfest. I am so bummed I didn’t see the lobster bisque. We arrived early, to avoid the lines and the lobster pizza was great. It’s hard to pick my top key lime pie but Matachica is top 3. Blue Water Grill gets #1 so far, and I tried Elvi’s the other night. It’s served “frozen” in a jar, yet it’s light and creamy and melts in your mouth. It’s very good, but because its frozen-ish in a jar, its too hard to get down to the bottom crust to enjoy it with every bite. I refuse to call the tart ones “key lime pie” . I will give Castaways a top 3 spot – its excellent I will continue the ongoing “contest” in December, along with the Best Fritters – Black and White is #1 , no one else comes close.
