Located in the District
Dangriga is the largest town in the south and the official home of music and Garifuna culture in Belize. It lies along the coast but the beaches, while not perfect, have their moments.
It is certainly a bit rougher around the edges and not as touristy as nearby Hopkins or Placencia. It is also a hopping off point to some beautiful cayes.
I’ve had beautiful afternoons there – once being fed by a local grandma with her family – and a few where I couldn’t wait to go. Either way, you’ll always find something interesting in Dangriga.
