There are so many Mayan sites around the country of Belize that you could easily plan a visit devoted to only that. But many prefer a day tour.

The most popular sites from the Northern Cayes, Orange Walk and Corozal are Lamanai (“submerged Crocodile”), from Belize City, Altun Ha (the site featured on the Belikin beer bottle) and Xunantunich (closed to San Ignacio). All can be experienced in a day trip from the islands.
But there are excellent ruins across the country…Lubataan in the South, the giant Caracol in the Pine Ridge area of Cayo. Hard to believe but true…there were more residents of the area of Belize one thousand years ago than there are today.
