The Most Gorgeous Late February Weather and Very Little Sargassum…
This week has been gorgeous on Ambergris Caye. A bit cooler – temps in the 70s, a beautiful breeze and best of all…crystal clear water and beaches.
I hate to bring up sargassum. The algae that flourishes in the Atlantic and Caribbean and, for the last 10 years or so, has been a blight on our shores during the spring and summer.

It’s been a yearly event except in 2020. Not that visitors were here to enjoy it! And in 2023, it came back to Ambergris Caye in mid-late January. And the beaches started to clear back up in August and September. This year…it’s late. HURRAY! And yesterday I took a bunch of pictures out and about because it was just that beautiful.
Here they are. Let’s start in town.
Returning from a morning of reef fishing.

And looking out on the water.

The SAN PEDRO sign in Central Park.

I am going to propose that we always have flags flying in town. They are so festival and cute. These are left over from Carnaval – just a week or so back.

I crossed the street to Parham Plaza – to admire the provision tree. Most of the strange Seussian blossoms were on the ground. Parham Plaza is one of the coolest properties on the island.

I headed north to the Boca Del Rio area.

I headed home. Across the bridge but then stopped again. It was THAT pretty out!

A few snapshots of Rum Dog…and I’ll leave it there. It’s another beauty! Let’s all collectively hope that the sargassum steers clear. I think that should works 🙂

And the view north…
