Sometimes the Best Part of Travel Is Coming Home: Flying Corozal to San Pedro

Good lawd…I’m back! And the gorgeous flight from Corozal to San Pedro was the perfect, huge sigh of relief-I’m home trip back to my island. Traveling up to Cancun (to fly to the US) via flight, taxi, Ubers and long bus rides is not the faint of heart.

I did it because the ticket from BZE was $1000US more – to fly to Rhode Island. And….$1000 is $1000!

I’m going to write all about that. The savings, was it worth it, the border crossing, the total extra time it took…all of it. But until then…let me share some pictures of what might be my favorite flight in Belize – Corozal to San Pedro. 18 mins that is so gorgeous. Because of the huge, undeveloped swaths of land…

Gorgeous even on a very cloudy day.

Leaving Corozal…

Flying from Corozal

And then over Orchid Bay – I visited a few years ago, it was hard to tell if much has been done since then.

Over Orchid Bay
Jewel colored lagoons

And then just wide open lagoons and wetlands…until you head over the water to Ambergris Caye.

South of Corozal

I’m glad to be home and I’ll be back 🙂

The last 5-10 years have been the freight train – the HUGE push to develop. The road north…Secret Beach…the real…holy crap era (I think)

Actually, I found it informative because it addresses how Belize has become home.
I suspect that adjustment issues play a part when moves fail. It is encouraging to hear about one person’s perspective.
Regarding “more serious” topics, I believe questions are welcome (Sand Pedro Scoop will have to verify).

Looking forward to the article! I’ve been researching how to visit Belize on a budget and taking a plane from Corozal to San Pedro never occurred to me as an idea. The cost isn’t much more than the water taxi from Chetumal. Please share all the details!! Also please include things like border crossing, fees etc. I’m guessing it’s different for residents/citizens but I’m curious
