Friday Afternoon On Ambergris Caye: El Fogon Restaurant and A Shimmering Shell Bar

Just a few months back, Jeff and I were eating a ridiculously great lunch at El Fogon Restaurant in San Pedro.  Jeff gave it his ultimate stamp of approval – for atmosphere and food – when he said “we should bring my mom here”.

And so, now that she is visiting with her friend Ken, we did.  Here are pictures of lunch at the DELICIOUS El Fogon Restaurant and then a quick trip to the west side of Ambergris Caye for a bit of wading, shelling, swimming and fishing and a beautiful pink sand bar.  (Check out this tour if you don’t have your own boat!)

The weather continues to be gorgeous.  The forecast shows some higher winds coming but the sun, it appears, will not wane.

Sigh…

Here’s to the end of March on Ambergris Caye.

Oh!  One quick thing.  I’ll be putting together a end of month newsletter over the next few days.  If you are not signed up for my mailing list, you can do so at the very end of this blog.

First…some pictures on a quick walk through town.

And peeking into the Roman Catholic church.

Some SUPER cute piggies for sale at the Artisan Market on Back Street.

And then over to El Fogon Restaurant.

The food was great – these dishes are my FAVORITES.  The conch fritters are the best I’ve ever tasted.  The pibil salbutes are to die for.  And the key lime pie.  Frozen, twangy, with lots of graham cracker crust underneath…YUM.

Let’s head out to Jeff’s boat and the shell bar.

Just us and…

…a bathing osprey.

You can barely see him down there.  Here’s my little Canon’s 30x zoom.  I have the SX710 but the newest one is now 40x!  Great little cameras.

Lots and lots of teensy tiny shells.  And a few that are extra special.

Not a bad way to spend a Friday afternoon…
