Level-Up Barcade Brings The Fun to San Pedro Town
Level-Up Barcade has moved to a fantastic, more accessible, new location – right in the heart of San Pedro town. A fun spot for kids and adults, with a fantastic theme straight out of my 80s/early 90s childhood – one of record albums, MatchBox cars, Atari, light sabers and Miss Pacman.

Almost two years ago, I wrote about the new business on Ambergris Caye: A Totally Radical New Spot: Level Up Barcade For Kids and Adults at Mahogany Bay
Now Level-Up has moved to a totally tubular location (groan…I know). I stopped by last weekend for their soft opening to get the scoop.
They are now located on the lagoon side of San Pedro town. At the SW corner of Saca Chispas (aka The “Old” Football Field”) The small street is the home of the Hungry Grouper Restaurant and Juvinie’s Ceviche Bar.
The space has hosted a few different restaurants but now re-opens as the new home LEVEL-UP Barcade! It’s the perfect location for visitor, locals and kids.
With a killer sunset view AND an amazing perch over the football field, THIS is the VIP seating for the concerts, fireworks and events that take place at this field.

Events like San Pedro’s Lobster Festival – September celebrations (fireworks and live music!) – and all the concerts that take place here.
If you are interested in a bit of history of the location, you can stick with this post until the end.
But for now, put the official new opening party on your calendars. It’s tomorrow!

Here are some more pictures of the new location.

Skeeball! Such a blast from my summers-at-the-Jersey shore past. (Seaside Heights!)

Classic games!

And then upstairs to the Level Up Lounge…a few quick pics.

They will be serving lunch and dinner and snacks…they have a kids menu. Here’s a peak at just a small portion of the menu. I will take one of everything on the kids menu.

Everyone is welcome. There are board games, there is a pool table, there’s a small ball pit…they have a ton to keep you busy and entertained.
For more information like hours and costs, you can check out their Facebook page and message them directly.
A fun thing to do on a cloudy day or just about any day with or without the whole family. Something different on Ambergris Caye!
Now a bit about the location…
Level-Up’s new location is the former home of Sunset Grill. The restaurant was one of the top restaurants in San Pedro when I moved here in 2007. Fine dining over the water and at certain times, they would feed the large jumping tarpon to the delight of the patrons.

At that time, the back lagoon and the football field did not have the large seawall that is in place now. And during the rainy season, it was just kinda a muddy ooze with small fishermen’s docks lining the back side of town.
In 2014, a huge project, at a total cost of $6 million from the IDB, was completed. They filled and buttressed much of this area – and “cleaned up” the west side/the lagoon side of town. (You can see some before and after pics here – in this 2014 post)

In about 2017/2018, someone spent lots of money to fill the entire area, build a hefty seawall, and build a cement structure. Here is a photo from Storm Restaurant – who was located in the building earlier this year and has since moved to a new location.

Thanks alot for the local update and history; your the best!
Gracias amigo.
Wasn’t that location also called “Laguna Restaurant” not too long ago? Or am I thinking of someplace else?
Also, do they have a poker table at Level Up?
Thanks for always keeping us up-to-date on the goings on in San Pedro!
I’m so very proud of Reiben & all the work he’s put into
LevelUp! Best wishes for continued success.
I hope level up is successful. I’m sure they spent a pretty penny acquiring, refurbishing, & maintaining those games, not to mention the duties paid to bring them into the Country!
Can’t wait to play Galaga! Thank you for the latest.
Ha. I’m not sure I ever played it…but I need to change that for sure.
