Busy January Farmers/Artisans’ Market at Ambergris Caye’s Truck Stop
Most of you know Ambergris Caye‘s famous hot spot, The Truck Stop – the food container park, beer garden, live music venue, bar(s), pool area, sunset dock, ice cream shop and more. It’s one of the busiest spots on the island and monthly, they host a Farmers & Artisan Market. It’s usually the 3rd Saturday of the month and always lots of fun.
You can see my event calendars for January 2024 and February 2024 for all the good stuff going on here on the island.
But let me get right to my pictures of this month’s busy market.
The parking lot was full…
People ordering food from the Asian, Mexican, Pizza and ice cream restaurant trucks.
I was tempted to grab a pizza to go. But me at home, alone with a fresh warm Conch Pizza would be dangerous. Conch, garlic, red pepper flakes…soooo good.
I headed towards the market…passing the games area.
The old pick-up truck garden…
And the sunset viewing/dining area.
This sign needs an update. As of about a month ago, we DO have a hospital on the island. (Thank GOODNESS!)
To the market!
And Brooklyn Brothers Bagels – where I ordered one of my best bites of December 2023.
Mito Paz is an incredible resource of history for San Pedro. If you see this book, buy one. The pictures are great…you’ll learn a ton about San Pedro.
Truck Stop has 6 flavors of Two-5 craft beer on tap as well…yesterday the menu included Pina Pale Ale, Soursop Hazy, Fever Grass Witbier and Rum Popo Stout. Beer doesn’t get more Belizean than that.
And then my friend Sophie from IslandartBelize. I have a number of her paintings…I love the pretty colors and the shapes…I want a parrot next!
That’s all until next month! For more information on The Truck Stop, you can check out their website, read the dozen or more posts I’ve written about them over the years…or just stop by 🙂

Rebecca. So sorry for your and Jeff’s loss of your furbaby. I will be moving there later this year. I look forward to meeting you both and learning how to fly fish.
Les Dooley
Thank you so much. It’s been so hard…almost more so for a dog so young. Thank you and look forward to meeting you too 🙂
Great pictures and visit at the market but why is the market only once a month. Up north we have markets every week while it is warm and down in the Caye’s you have tourist turnover every week. So you should have it every week to catch all the tourist dollars. Just wondering!
I’m not sure but thinking it’s hard/expensive for some of the vendors on the mainland to travel out to the island every week and many of the visitors to the market are folks that live here. One day!
Are the prices at the Truck Stop in Belizean dollars or US?
All BZD. USD seems to be a resort thing on menus. Restaurants are BZD.
