Island Holidays Decorations on Ambergris Caye
I love all of the island holiday decorations around San Pedro. Palm trees draped with simple Christmas lights are the cutest. And golf cart tire snowmen? My FAVE.
Earlier this week, I tried to stop at some resorts and businesses that I KNOW do a fantastic job. And here are my pictures.
Belize is experiencing a cold front – it’s Christmas weather! San Pedro is waking up to temperatures at about 70F, with low humidity (for the Tropics…as low as 55%) and a brisk north wind. The Cayo district and the Mountain Pine Ridge area…the high 50s in the early morning. This is about as cold as Belize gets…and it TOTALLY feels like the holidays.
By the theory of relativity (my theory that is…) 70F on Ambergris Caye is the equivalent of a blizzard in Washington DC.
I’m eating my body weight in cookie dough and delicious caramel popcorn my neighbors Ken and Theresa dropped off to keep warm.
The pictures!
In town, Lily’s Restaurant (home of my FAVORITE fried fish and one of the best conch ceviches) looks so festive. And so does the beach!
My friend Polo and his family do such a wonderful job decorating their shops for the holidays. His building is on the very north end of Front Street – just before you get to the Phoenix Resort.
Glitter Santa stands by Boca Del Rio park.
He’s gone thru MANY iterations over the years. Slim Santa, Soccer Santa, shirtless Santa with an amazing chest tattoo…
I stopped in at Grand Caribe Resort to visit the beach snowman.
I headed up to Portofino Resort and the Christmas tree in the water. SO pretty…
Just stunning…
And their beautiful simple wooden tree at the end of their dock.
While I was at the end of the dock, I spotted some snowmen on the beach a few houses south…
I spotted this osprey perch…
And these…my favorites. Just in someone’s front yard.
Time to head home. My neighbor at Tuto Belize had just put up their beach Christmas tree…spotted in the morning while walking the dogs.
I waited until the sun was setting and went over to take a few pictures.
I should have waited a bit longer but due to the recent rains, the mosquitos were BUZZING.
I snapped a few pictures and RETREAT!
That’s all for now. Back to baking! But please, if you have seen any beautiful displays around town or the island, message me! I’d love to enjoy them too.

Hi Rebecca,
I wish you & Jeff a very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year. Thank you for all of your 2023 Scoops. You help us all keep in touch with what is happening down on Ambergris Caye. I hope to visit again in the next year or two.
Thank you so much. To you and yours as well. To a great 2024 of Scoops and travel (for both of us!)
You said: “relativity (my theory that is…) 70F on Ambergris Caye is the equivalent of a blizzard”. I want to remind you that in Roade Island when there is a blizzard, Snow falls from the sky. In case you have forgotten. 50 degrees is a balmy heat wave in RI or WI in the USA on the winter solstice dear. Have a wonderful time wearing your mittens and jacket today.
But the cold and the wind…and I did wake up to a light dusting of dead mosquitos on my porch. Does it work now? 🙂 Merry Christmas!
Any temp is a good time to eat cookie dough!! Looking forward to coming back down on 1/6 for the first time in 4 years (has it been that long?) I do remember last time we were down I was on a hunt for eggs, all the stores were out, and saw you and Jeff in Greenhouse. Asked him if he’d seen any anywhere and he pointed me to Caye Mart, mission accomplished!
Amazing pictures. We were there from Denver to spend the holidays at our house at Secret Beach. Great place for the holidays. Thanks for what you do.
House at Secret Beach? Tell me more!
