October Holiday Weekend Around Ambergris Caye

Yesterday was a holiday – Pan-American Day here in Belize.  One of those long holiday weekends that creeps up on you…so much so that you don’t realize its a 3 day weekend until you find the gas station closed…or you see all the kids, uniformless, and playing at the beach.

Saturday morning we boated up to Cayo Frances Farm & Fly – the address is 12 miles W. Side of Ambergris Caye.

Here are a bunch of pictures I took of a gorgeous sunny weekend in October.   These are actually the boat ride back TO town on the holiday Monday.  Blue blue skies and kids swimming in “the river”.

This awesome home is looking more and more beautiful each day.  Here is the photo from yesterday.

And then this one less than one month ago.  A whole new deck put on it.

What a beautiful day.

We had a few night rain showers the previous week but things are dry and GREEN.  Love it.

This morning, the beach just north of Xtan Ha Resort.  7 miles north.

Even the winter birds are starting to head down for nesting.  My first roseate spoonbill of the season.

Some of the flowers I planted at the camp – FINALLY coming to life.  I brought some of these back as cuttings from the-beyond-awesome Turtle Inn Resort in Placencia.  Portulaca.

And this!  I bought it from a woman selling plants just south of San Pedro town. And after at least 6 months of playing almost-dead…this!  She’s covered in flowers.

The plum trees in the back are blooming…bees everywhere.  (More photos of the fruits at the farm if you are interested.)

Clumps of lemon grass.  The last guest left his socks on the line.

Two gorgeous sunsets.  Here’s one.

And a small blue headed non-poisonous visitor.

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend.  I’m off to the dentist.  My dentist on Ambergris Caye.
