8 Posts that Will Make You Want to Visit Ambergris Caye SOON

I started blogging in June of 2011!  And during the last five PLUS years, I have just over 1500 posts – some that have been read tens of thousands of times (like those on how I moved here) and about my (very calculated) run-in with the TV Show “The Bachelor” and others that well…are best left to the deep black hole that is the internet.

manateeHere are eight posts that I hope inspire newbies to visit Ambergris Caye (and Belize) as well as perk up those living here as the high season is just on the horizon and cooler breezes start to blow in.

Belize is SOOO Different:  Here’s Why You are planning that big vacation of the year.  You want warm weather but…there are SO many islands in the Caribbean…so many countries in Central America.   Why pick Belize?

Well…we speak English.  But that’s not even one of my reasons.

11 Must Do’s On Your First Visit to Ambergris Caye

Food, exploring, outside movie night over the lagoon.

Oh…and these guys.

The Best Beaches On Ambergris Caye

Our shore front is lined with docks and I am a HUGE fan of just rolling out a towel and sunning, swimming and sunning again on the worn pier.  But we DO have beaches.  Here are some of the prettiest on Ambergris Caye.

Food Of Belize:  My Guide

You might not know Belizean cuisine now but you will quickly learn that there is delicious stewed chicken, rice & beans on every menu.  From black soup to fry jacks, here are the foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner that you MUST try.

A GREAT idea to taste up to 8 in one afternoon or evening is Belize Food Tours.  Check out my lunch time extravaganza hitting 6 favorite restaurants with them.

8 Craziest Adventure Tours in Belize

As a SKY DIVING operation gets ready to open here on the island, here are my 8 craziest adventures in Belize.  The chances of me skydiving are ZERO but I did drop into a black hole and trek at least a mile underground to see a Mayan skeleton.

Flying over the Blue Hole With Tropic Air and/or Snorkeling the Blue Hole

Two totally different trips…I’m not sure which is more awesome.  I LOVED visiting Half Moon Caye and can’t wait to go back for camping.

Trip Over to The West Coast of Ambergris Caye

This is a must, must, must do.  Many know not-so-Secret Beach and that is a great look at “the other side of Ambergris Caye”.  But an even better trip is a charter boat or a trip with YOLO to the leeward side.  Spend the afternoon lounging on a sandbar.

Trip to Hol Chan, Shark Ray Alley and Caye Caulker

It’s absolutely unheard of to visit Ambergris Caye and NOT snorkel Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley.  Total madness.  I absolutely love doing it on a catamaran – Seaduced by Belize is absolutely fabulous.

It’s so lovely to nap on the way back.

Another option is YOLO…a party boat that keeps you well fed and sipping cocktails the whole time.

Either way, each stop is absolutely fab.

Shopping in Belize:  My Favorite Souvenirs on Ambergris Caye  I’m no shopper but some people expect SOMETHING!  Here are my favorite shopping spots in San Pedro.

And if you find yourself too busy during your vacation, you can pick up some last minute things at the airport on the way home.

There you go.  And if you don’t want to take my word for it…here are some writers that loved their trips to Ambergris Caye.

New York Magazine  “Go Adventuring in Ambergris Caye”  April 13, 2016
