Rain, Sun, Rain, Sun, Belikin Gets a Shipment & Lunch at Blue Water Grill

Yesterday I headed into town just before lunch.  Sure, this cloud was looming in the direction that I was headed…but I thought I could beat it.

Ok…I’m not going to make it.  I ducked into La Isla Supermarket across from the Belize Yacht Club which is owned by one of my favorite people, Abdul.  He let me know that he is a proud new father of his second son, Mahmoud.   He was also just receiving some new beer fresh from the distributor.

Both the new Chocolate Stout with an elegant gold wrapper…

Mmmm….chocolaty Belikin goodness.  Get it while it lasts!

And Smirnoff Ice is also here.  It’s been out of stock at Bowen & Bowen for a few months now.  Ladies rejoice!  In Belize, a guy wouldn’t be caught dead sipping a Smirnoff.

The Belikin barge generally comes from the mainland on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.  Your delivery guy will be busy unloading rather than bringing you your sodas and beers.

Craving a salad, I thought I’d try to make a break for Blue Water Grill but halfway there, it started pouring.

Blue Water Grill has a great lunch salad selection…they have a Grilled Shrimp & Calamari Salad, a classic Cobb, a Wasabi Pea & Chicken, a Greek salad and my chosen one below…Cashew Chicken Salad with Ginger-Soy vinaigrette.

And by the time I left lunch, the sun was shining and it was HOT.

Today’s weather is starting off mixed AGAIN.  The sun is peaking out but I also just got sprinkled on.

The Belize Meteorological Service is predicting continued unstable weather.  Until Friday they say. Blah.

In yesterday’s post you mentioned the Mayan ladies carrying & selling blankets.
It seems it could be an interesting blog/interview for you.
I have visited A.C. several times and always see these ladies but have never bought anything from them.
Who are they, where do they live, do they actually sell very many balnkets, why blankets in such a warm climate, etc, etc.

I like the idea but have found these ladies SO shy and hesitant (hence my photo from behind!). I’ll give it a go…

Also, they tend to speak very little English…you might need an interpreter if your Spanish is not good.

Thanks for the tip on Belikin Stout! I looked at Super Buy yesterday, but they did not have any — will check again tomorrow. Looking forward to trying it.

This weather has definitely been crazy. Would love for it to dry up some as the road north is in really bad shape.

    What a cowinkydink.
I was at the Bar at Bluewater Grill between 12 and 12:45,sitting out the downpour, waiting for my 1:00 pm Tropic flight.
2 shots of Caribbean White and a Belikin for me….no salad.

My brush, with blog greatness all….Oh well.
